I’ve been quiet on the blog recently, but that doesn’t mean something big wasn’t brewing behind the scenes! I am excited to announce that I have taken the leap, and started my own design studio!!! This has been a goal of mine for quite some time, so I am pretty pumped it is actually happening.
About the name
Developing a name for my business was much harder than I anticipated. I resisted using my personal name, Jamie Starcevich, for my business, because well… my last name is a mouthful (though I love it!). I have no doubt people would misspell and pronounce it wrong often. More than that, I wanted a business name that could grow with me. If I needed to expand, or collaborate with others, it would be better to have a name not connected with me personally.
Neat, smart, stylish, dapper. To freshen up appearances.
The journey from the old to the new.
The idea behind the name Spruce Rd. is that when collaborating with businesses, we journey together to develop a solution that freshens up, or establishes, their visual identity.
Through my career, I have had the opportunity to work with various mediums of graphic design including: branding + logo development, web design, print collateral, book design, publication design, stationery and environmental graphic design. I am so thankful to have touched so many areas of design. Through my experiences, I have learned that I most enjoy developing a brand identity from the ground up, and then applying that brand to web design, etc. With the start of my new studio, this is where I would like to focus my efforts. I love the strategy, research, new beginnings and excitement that a fresh visual identity brings.
Next Steps I am beyond excited for this next step in my career! I will be sharing my journey along the way on this blog, so let me know in the comments below if you have any questions that I can help answer! I am also busy working on my website, and will be launching that soon.
